EIS Specifications

The EIS System together with computer complies with norm EN60601 as an electro medical system.
The computer is external to the patient environment and therefore complies with its own norm EN60950/ EC 60601-1-1 / EC 60601-1-2

Computer Specifications

The EIS System is a Programmable Electro Medical System (PEMS) including:

1. THE HARDWARE
The hardware is configured as a USB "plug and play" device; the power supply of the box is transmitted via the USB port of the computer; the computer recognizes the hardware due to the driver fdt2xx.dll which is incorporated in the installation disc which is then copied to the windows directory WINDOWS/SYSTEM.
Each time the hardware is connected to the PC, it will appear on the list of USB hardware installations and then when it is disconnected, it disappears from the respective list.

Technical Specifications :

Accessories :

The design of The EIS hardware is composed of a receiving USB circuit and a circuit of converters placed on the same chart which is separated by a galvanic decoupling.
This chart is installed in the black EIS box .

The front panel includes :
  • 1 green LED indicating PC pilot light/ control / hardware recognition.
  • 1 yellow LED indicating PC pilot light/ control / hardware recognition.
  • 1 green LED indicating the power supply
  • 1 RCA connector which is for the  "head electrodes".
The back panel includes :
  • USB-A port
  • 3 RCA "HAND" "FOOT" "TEST"

2. THE SOFTWARE
The data-processing program comprises of 4 main components:

2.1 To Control The Correct Operation of The Black Box:

2.1.1 To test the power supply
2.1.2 To test the respective channels
2.1.3 To test the laterality and correspondence of the volumes
             2.1.4 To test the cables

2.2 To modulate the tension, sequence and time of the measurements

Each examination takes 3 measurements during the 1min and 50s test:
During the first measurement of 22secs, the software controls the hardware in sending a frequency between the electrodes of both the hands and feet with an imposed intensity of 600µA with a  250KHz then a 50KHz frequency.

For the second (22secs) and third measurements (66secs) the software controls the hardware in sending a 1.28V DC current imposed tension of 1 second per volume and then 3 seconds per volume between the 2 electrodes.

The tension during the DC current is transmitted in a chronological way between the negative and positive electrode and according to the programmed sequence: 2, 10, 4, 11, 6, 14, 7, 16, 17, 19, 22, 1, 9, 3, 12, 5, 13, 8, 15, 18, 20, 21
Thus, the electrodes will alternate between a cathode and as an anode and will record 22 tissue volumes located between the respective electrodes.

The hardware transmits via the USB ports the intensity measurements (32 measurements in 1 second and 255 measurements in 3 seconds) in numerical form to the data-processing program.

2.3 Application of the mathematical formulas

The program transforms the measurements of intensity provided by the hardware in numerical format and according to several aspects:

Analysis of the direct method of conductivity measurements by applying Maxwell's equation.
  • Working of the conductivity measurements after the calculation of item 0 according to the formula of the bodies volume equation (v=H2/R), a scale of - 100 to +100
  • Application of the inverse problem algorithms (results of STATISTICA program version 7.0 with the patient databases)
  • Estimation of acid base balance (according to The Cottrell equation)
  • Estimation of the body composition after the calculation of the total water body (1MHz) ,the extra cellular water (50KHz) and interstitial water (DC) .
      2.4 Analysis and statistical data

This program incorporates all the data from the respective tests to carry out the following :
  • Conductivity graphs in order to carry out an electro scan gram (ESG)
  • Modeling and synthesis of the images
  • Statistical graph of the functional risks in using an external program; STATISTICA
  • Body composition analysis
  • As a decision making aid for therapeutic intervention as you can regulate target supplementary examinations.
  • As a decision making aid for therapeutic intervention as you can monitor and advocate correct nutrition
  • The "Measurement Control" Feature will allow you to compare any two visits of the same patient on different dates.
